Mud, Muskeg & Mosquitoes author Event & Signing
Author Diane Armstrong will be in the store on Oct 16th from 6pm to 8pm to sign copies and talk about her book Mud, Muskeg & Mosquitoes!!
This historically factual creative non-fiction book concerns a remarkable woman who married and moved to ‘New Ontario’ in 1907 to become an outstanding community member, one of the first women elected to a School Board in Ontario, and mother to eight children. She was also the author's grandmother. More than mere history, this story recounts the difficulties with the mud, muskeg, mosquitoes Diane Armstrong and many other situations she dealt with to become a part of our history here in north-eastern Ontario. Diane Armstrong has taken her years of writing, researching and interviewing skills to write this compelling and factual account of her grandmother's life as it coincides with the development of the T&NO Railway in Northern Ontario and we share her life in great detail from 1900 to 1942.

Wed Night Game Nights are back with Alhambra!!
Yes because of popular demand we are bringing back Wed Night game nights here at Chat Noir Books!!
What better way then to celebrate hump day(The middle of a work week (Wednesday); used in the context of climbing a proverbial hill to get through a tough week. - thank you Urban Dictionary!!) then getting together and drinking coffee(or KICK ASS Hot Chocolate!!) and playing a few board games!
Not sure how game night works? Well basically you come out and... well you play board games with us in the store. Pretty simple eh! Ever second Wed of the month we pick out a board game to play, the other Wed nights it is player choice. If all the player spots are taken, don't worry you can watch or pick out one of our other demo games from our store library, grab a few people and start playing it!
So we will be starting everything off next week with Alhambra by Queen Games!!
In Granada, one of the most impressive building projects of the Middle Ages has begun: the construction of Alhambra. A palace, fortress, and a small city -- all-in-one
Alhambra is made up of the world’s most beautiful gardens, pavilions, chambers and towers. The most prominent builders in all of Europe and Arabia want to demonstrate their skills in building Alhambra. Employ the most talented teams of builders to construct your Alhambra.
Hire stonemasons from the north and gardeners from the south, who all want a fair wage and insist on being paid with their native currency. With their help, towers can be constructed, gardens designed, pavilions and mezzanines erected, and manors and royal chambers built. Compete against your opponents to build the greatest and most impressive Alhambra.
