The next book in the Hunger games will be out later on this month and if you haven't
the Hungers Games will soon be on the big screen as well. Check out the Trailer below!!
HBO is also working on a series is based on George R.R. Martin’s bestselling fantasy novel series A Song of Fire and Ice. The show is titled after the first novel in the series. Martin has planned seven books in the series, and the plan is to turn each book into a full season of television. The massive story is “set in the mythical land of Westeros [which] tells the story of the noble Stark family, who become caught up in high court intrigue when patriarch Eddard (Sean Bean) becomes the king’s new right-hand man.”
I'm not sure what this means for the next book in series. A Dance with Dragons is still has a December 25, 2012 Not Yet Released date.

Author Event with Hap Wilson and musical guest Headframe
Author Hap Wilson and illustrator Ingrid Zschogner will be in the store on August 20th with musical guest Headframe to talk about and sign copies of his new book "Grey Owl and Me: Stories From the Trail and Beyond"The event will be from 6:30pm to 9:30pm.
About the Books
Hap Wilson is back for another journey, this time on the lighter side of the adventure trail, where the bizarre melds with the sublime. Nurtured by the writings of Canadian environmentalist and wannabe-Native, Grey Owl, Wilson adopted a lifestyle similar to the 1930s conservationist but with his own twists and turns along a meandering path full of humorous misadventures. Wilson, too, learned many of his nature skills as a youth, paddling in Temagami, working as a wilderness canoe ranger and guide, and following in the footsteps of one of Canada's most revered outdoor icons.
The author recounts early days winter camping, motorcycling the Labrador coast, and teaching actor Pierce Brosnan how to throw knives and paddle a canoe for the Richard Attenborough film about Grey Owl. He also takes us to a few of his favourite places and shares intimate secrets of wilderness living. Here, Grey Owl has returned as an ever-present critic -- a buckskin-clad spectre in a modern world of Gore-Tex, Kevlar canoes, and gear freaks.

Topic: A new production
The terrific Canadian comedy Having Hope At Home by David S Craig has been chosen by Temiskaming Live Theatre for production this fall. TLT has taken some time off from the local scene but is anxious to return once more to the Classic Theatre. Profit from this show will be donated to the Classic for use in a future endeavour. This is a great chance for patrons and local businesses to boost a local arts group and support the Classic at the same time. The dates are November 4, 5, 6. Contact Larry Aquino to get involved.

A very pregnant Carolyn is determined to bring her family back together before the birth of her first child. In this multi-generational comedy that has charmed audiences across the country, modern medicine meets midwifery head-on in a torrent of family feuding and as tensions begin to rise, so does the laughter! It will take a baby to heal the rift in this funny, heart-warming story of forgiveness and hope.

Sorry for the shortage of posts!
I would like to apologize for the lack of posts this summer. Unfortunately we have been really, really busy with renovations of our rentals as well as our own place, my sisters wedding! I had plans of posting the back log of videos and pictures from past Author Events, Coffee Houses and Open Mics but again we just have had the time to get to them.
Hopefully that will change this fall. If all goes to well we might even be living in town which should also free up some time.
Of course if any in store events are happening they will get posted here!

Here are a few of the photos I have been working on called "Building the store"!!
Before we moved into our space, Wilderness Dreams was test piloting the idea of having a downtown store location. Luckily they didn't stick with the old hardware, and would be out by August, just time for us to move in and start renovating. Wildnress Dreams would eventually open up a great little shop downtown on Armstrong St.
When we started renovations there was pegboard over every wall surface in the store. So before we could reno first came the demo and everything came down.
The old Hardware store was our last choice of buildings to open the bookstore in. It was just to big and we knew we could never fill it with enough inventory, so we decided to split the store in two.
We originally thought about putting our store on what would later become the Howey Bro's side. That was until we took down the drop ceiling and found a beautiful press tin ceiling underneath and so our plans changed again. Of courses now we needed to add windows and a door to our side and this was not in our budget!!
**So there you have it, a sample of what is to come. I hope to have more posted in the fall**
